Lower Salt River Clean-Up  -  Trash Pick-Up on the Lower Salt River
Everyone Welcome! Seeking Volunteers for Salt River Clean-Up! The Tonto National Forest is hosting the annual Lower Salt River cleanup, Saturday, January 18, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. to help restore a portion of the river to its natural beauty. Come to Bluepoint Recreation area between 8am and 9 am on the day of the event.
As one of the busiest recreation spots on the Tonto National Forest, the Lower Salt River Recreation Area hosts thousands of visitors year round. Unfortunately, some of these visitors leave their trash behind, and some of it accumulates in the river.

To help restore the river to its natural beauty, and clean up debris, the Mesa Ranger District is hosting a River Bank Cleanup, Saturday, January 18, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Register here for the event and then come to the Blue Point Recreation Site on January 18 to sign-in from 8 to 9 a.m. The clean-up begins immediately after sign-in and will continue until about noon.

Tonto Daily Passes are not required for participation in this event. The Tonto National Forest will provide trash bags. The majority of the clean-up will occur in the river bed near water so participants must wear closed-toe, rubber-soled shoes that can be worn in rocky terrain. We urge you to wear sunscreen, hats, gloves, and bring trash pickers if available. Participants are also urged to bring plenty of water as bottled water may not be provided. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Participants under the age of 8 are not recommended. Thank you for helping keep our waterways clean!

Directions to Volunteer Sign-In Location: The Blue Point Recreation Site is located 20 miles northeast of Mesa. From Mesa, travel east on the Superstition Freeway (US 60) to Power Road/Bush Highway and turn north. Follow Power Road which will turn into Bush Highway for 15 miles to the Blue Point Recreation site. The entire route is paved.
